How it works

Guardian homes are a partnership between a breeder and a family in order to give our breeding dogs the best care possible and all the love and individual attention they deserve in their forever home, right from the start. We are looking for people who share our love of dogs and understand our mission.
In short– the breeding dog lives with their family as their pet and returns to us for breeding and whelping puppies as needed. Contracts for females are typically 3-4 litters. Once “retired” they’re spayed, ownership is signed over to their forever guardian family.
How does it work?
Females come to us when they’re in heat and then again to deliver and raise her puppies. She will visit with us during her heat cycle, to be bred, then, she will return to us about a week before she is ready to deliver her puppies. the female stays with us to be loved and spoiled until the puppies are weaned (typically between 6-8 weeks old) and then returns to her guardian family.
Playdates
We also like to have “playdates” with the guardian dog at our home occasionally, to ensure she is familiar and comfortable with us, our family and our home as time goes on. The comfort and care of our guardian dogs is our top priority. We are also here to assist and support you as needed every step of the way. I am always here to answer any questions, help with training tips, grooming how-to’s, tell you what to expect when she’s expecting and to make things as smooth as possible.
At the end of the outlined contract, the Guardian Family will have 100% ownership of the dog! As well as, the dog will have it’s forever family it’s been with from the beginning. How amazing is that?!
A Partnership
We are so appreciative of our guardian homes! Our breeding program DEPENDS on the quality of care provided to our dogs by our loving guardian families – we expect the best home life possible for our dogs. Please see some of the requirements below.

Some Basic Guardian Home Requirements:
*Must, while under contract, live within 2-3 hours of Sandpoint, Idaho, or from Pack River Poodles and Doodles in Samuels, Idaho. This may be extended to a further distance for the right fit depending on availability to transport.
